European jury selects the best startups by category from whole Europe
Institute of Entrepreneurship Development is the country manager of Startup Europe Awards in Greece. In this frame, iED selects every year the best Greek startups by category.
StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) is promoted by the European Commission, supported by the President of the Committee of the Regions, several members of the European Parliament as Ambassadors and it is implemented by Finnova Foundation in collaboration with Startup Europe.
First of all the team or the startup company has to be located/established in Greece. In the competition can participate early stage start-ups developing innovative solutions with POC or prototype and international ambitions in the following categories.
In each category there are specific eligibility criteria, that the startup should pay attention. If your startup fulfills the criteria in the specific category, you can proceed to the Application form.
Participation to a highly recognized Pan-European Competition. StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) is promoted by the European Commission.
Visibility through iED network and Information about EU programmes and funds. All the participants will gain exposure through iED’s media. iED will send you newsletters about projects and funds related to startups.
The selected national finalists will gain European exposure at the official website of SEA. Promotion of your startup through social media and websites from whole Europe.
The selected European finalists will gain granted access to the Awards Ceremony to be held in Brussels and a mentoring programme.
Christos Raftogiannis is the CEO and Co-Founder of CityCrop. CityCrop was the European winner of SEUA 2016 in the Smart Cities category. Christos has over 10 years of professional experience in business and hydroponics and received his BSc from the Department of Agriculture, Food & Nutrition of the Technological Educational Institute of Crete.
Andreas Stefanidis is co-founder and president of the Academy of Entrepreneurship (AKEP). He is also Accelerator Director of Aephoria.net which is a sustainable-business education and incubation program for startup companies operating in Greece. He was also President and founding member of one of the strongest networks of promotion of young entrepreneurs at national and international level, the Federation of Greek Associations of Young Entrepreneurs.
Lefteris Kontos has over 15 years of proving experience in Entrepreneurship and in Mergers & Acquisitions sector, and he has helped many companies to meet their capital raise goals. He is the CEO of in4capital.com investors matching platform, and director and shareholder of US high tech company Entranet Inc. which is in the going public process to US alternative stock exchange.
Thanos Parasxos runs his own UK based company iprovidenow. He is the CEO and Founder of Supermarketnow as well as the Co-Founder and President of Youth Entrepreneurship Club. He has over 10 years professional experience as he started developing his entrepreneurial spirit from the age of fifteen. He has devoted his time to the idea of sharing his expertise, even failures and his main goal is to give support and incentive to aspiring entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into business.

Elli Diakanastasi (MSc, Phd. Candidate) is responsible for the network of experts / mentors and the systematic support of the beneficiary groups in the ACEin. She holds a Master on Product Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship from the Business School of the University of Antwerp. She has worked as marketing coordinator in the private sector and as a researcher at the Greek Foreign Ministry. At the moment, she is a researcher at ELTRUN the E-Business Center in AUEB and a PhD candidate in innovation and entrepreneurship at the same university.
Lina Tsaltampasi is the CEO of OECON GROUP - Business and Development Consultants. She has almost 20 years of experience and expertise in entrepreneurship. She is an expert in supporting startups through Business Angel investments. Furthermore, Lina Tsaltampasi actively supports Female Entrepreneurship as President of Greek Association of Women Entrepreneurs (S.E.G.E.). She is also the coordinator of Start Up Week for the third time. She was awarded in 2010 with the title of Female Entrepreneurship Ambassador for Greece and in 2014 with the title of Women Motivator in Mediterranean.

One of the three biggest chemical companies globally, • Area of activity: Plant protection products, pharmachemicals paints, heavy chemicals, specialty chemicals. •The last 17 yrs works as Consultant of International Companies as GOWAN (based in Arisona, US) and INDOFIL (Mumbai, India) for Agrobusiness in South East Europe, Turkey, M. East. • Member of KEMEL (Center of Volunteers Managers of Greece) • Former President of British Hellenic Chamber of Commerce.
